Event round-up

I'm back! With school's practically over, I'm free from overflowing assignments and I could get back to blogging. As I promised, I will post about some of the events that had been going on around Singapore that I managed to attend. So, here you go..

Fashion Steps Out

Back in March, the always-busy Orchard Road was blocked to draw in even more crowd than from just the usual flooding of tourists. Models with balloons and bicycles adorned in creations from Just Cavalli (just to name one of the many labels that was present during the show) replaces cars and buses as the main occupant of the road for the night, and I couldn't be happier. The runway stretches from ION orchard, all the way to Takashimaya and it was nothing like I've ever seen before.

NYLON Launch Party

After a long wait, finally Singapore had their own NYLON magazine and what better way to celebrate the launch of their first issue but with a big party. VJ Rich and Adele, NYLON's very own editor-in-chief was the host of event. The party start with the unveiling of their first cover, to performances of local bands and a fashion show by Topman and Topshop, the event was a major success!

Lasalle Foundation Students Fashion Show

My friend's from the fashion departments are showcasing their latest works for their specialism project so I decided to drop by to give moral support and to see their wonderful creations. Their project was to whip up a new outfit from secondhand clothes. I was surprised (in a good way) that some of my friends went to take the role of the models as well. I feel so proud of how much my friends have achieved, and I'm looking forward to see their next showcase. Way to go girls!

Men's Fashion Week

I was lucky enough to be invited by a dear friend of mine Raisa to help at the backstage for Bodybound's show at Men's Fashion Week. This year's fashion week was even better than last year's, not just from the incredible lineup including Diet Butcher Slim Skin and MCM, but also from presence of artists from Japan and Korea like se7en to pump up the action.

It was probably the best day of my life! There's nothing to regret from hanging around the most awesome crew (yeah you know who you guys are), photographing models, watching fashion shows and being surrounded by amazingly talented and inspiring individuals. For those who haven't heard of Bodybound, google them right away! Its so refreshing to see a daring menswear label. Their latest collection was dominated with plastics and studdeds, and if you don't know me, I just can't say no to that.

Mad Thrills 2nd Anniversary

Afterwards, I decided that the night was still too young so I catch up with my friends for some more fun. Overall, it was a very amazing week to end my 2nd semester of uni and to welcome the long holiday. I'm definitely looking forward to heading back to Jakarta to visit family and friends, and most likely pamper myself with lots of food and enough sleep.
