I don't really think in colors. Weird as that maybe, but I've been applying that to my wardrobe too from last year. Besides, who needs color anyway when you got black leather and transparent plastics haha! Oh yeah and btw I'm now obsessed about pairing sneakers with formal trousers.

With this new year, I managed to start on a couple of new things. One of them is this new tumblr that I started as a way for me to exercise my eye in design, as well as to show my longtime obsession with skulls and bones, but most importantly to have fun.

The idea for this little project is not about joining the skull icon's rise to the top of the trend ladder. It's about how I want people to change their perception of the skull's imagery by putting them into different contexts, thus creating new meanings in the process.

2013

1st post in 2013! wooohoo! Not gonna go all out today paying back all the time I've been unblogging, but since I'm in quite a good mood I'll give you this photo of me with one of my custom hats that I made for my studio class project back in November. I'll probably post some more of them later, but let's see. I guess, y'all just have to stick around to find out :p

Right after I saw the list of items from the Maison Martin Margiela with H&m collection, I immediately thought that I am definitely going to be broke afterwards hahaha. Then I remembered about the hand-painted jeans I made a while back, so I decided to take them out for a walk. And as you can see, my outfits had been shifting from all black to all white, and will probably become a vicious cycle. I used to hate these two colors but this is almost how my wardrobe looks like now. Oh karma, she will always get you in the end.

sweater weather

Well, it's been raining for a few days lately. But even when the sun is blazing hot outside, it always get chilly indoor from those nasty kiasu air-conditioning. Either way, a plain sweater is always my go-to solution. Thick enough, but wont be too warm when I put them on for a stroll around the city. Another thing about sweaters, it can go really casual or a bit dressy. A perfect piece of clothing for anyone who is in the mood to get a bit creative.

With the end of semester assessment just a few weeks ahead, I'll try my best to keep up with the blogging. In the mean time, you can see some of the stuff I've posted on my instagram account, including some sparkling-goodness I managed to get my hands on from the Anna dello Russo at H&M collection launch :p Using this app is definitely handy when you're not exactly in the mood to carry a heavy dslr camera during a night out in town or on the way to buy materials after class. over the shoulder

Well, its not exactly autumn here, but that doesn't we can't have fun with layering too. Although trust me, wearing 3 layers of clothing was a definitely a challenge. But hey, no pain no gain, right? Just like what Anna Dello Russo said in her video ad campaign for her collaboration with H&M, "Fashion is always uncomfortable. If you feel comfortable, you'll never get the look".

It is a lot easier to pull off when you spend most of your time indoor under full air conditioning. A trick I always find handy is to wear my outerwear over the shoulder. Aside from just letting some of the heat out a little bit, it will give a more dramatic silhouette to any ordinary jacket.

on the move

First things first, obviously my blue hair has faded. Even after my attempt to color it grey, it only lasted for 2 weeks. So I just accept how unpractical it is to keep up a particular artificial hair color. However, I'm also accepting how addictive hair coloring is, haha.

Another thing, I've been digging the whole sporty look recently. It can be quite tricky, but what I personally find useful is to juxtapose it with something traditional and toned down like a classic button down shirt. I just love the contrast, and sometimes even how surreal it looked, but that's when it becomes fun! :)

DIY plastic lanyard

I've missed blogging. So, to finally have some spare time, I decided to post this DIY project I did a while back. If you remembered a few posts ago, I wore this givenchy-inspired plastic lanyard, and now I'm going to share how you could make your own!

Materials you will need,

- transparent pvc / plastic table cloth

- studeds / rivets

- keyring

- key chain link

- a key

- scissors

Here are the steps,
1. Cut a long strip of the plastic, with a width of 2.5 cm and 80 cm in length
2. Cut another strip, with the same width but 6 cm in length
3. Slide the smaller strip through the keyring, then fold
4. Place both ends of the longer strip, and place it in between the folded smaller strip
5. Apply the rivets on the intersection of the 2 plastic components, to hold them in place
6. Attach the link and the key to the keyring

Do note that because its plastic, it can get wrinkly when folded. If it happened, just straightened it out by hanging it on a coat rack or even a door knob, it doesn't really matter. Other than that, I just love the utilitarian feel of the necklace. I might be making another one with a different material.
